Dear Friends,

In just a short time, we will be having Family Camp…July 31 – Aug 4, at the Skowhegan New Horizons Community Church of the Nazarene. Rev. David Filsinger is our evangelist. Brian Arner and family are our song evangelists. And Dr. Steve Dillman will be leading the Bible Studies.

Primitive camping (no electricity, water or septic) is available on the grounds for $10/night. We are providing a toilet/shower trailer for the convenience of the campers.

There will be a snack shack open at various times during camp. There are a number of activities planned for families during the afternoons, including a float trip (bring your kayaks and canoes), horseshoe tournament, camp fire after services, kite day, and a corn roast on Sunday (see schedule for more information).

If you want to stay in nice rooms, there are various motels in the area. Pastor Brian Hale advises making reservations now because this is a busy time of the year for this area. Meals are on your own and there are a number of restaurants in the area.

You drive in for one or all the services. Whatever you do…stay on grounds, stay in a local motel, or drive in…you will enjoy the 2019 Family Camp experience.

Rev. David Filsinger, Th.B., B.A., M.A., M.Div.

Lead Cell Pastor

I have had the wonderful privilege of pastoring the Sherwood congregation since July of 1984. God has been faithful in writing his story in my heart over a lifetime. My wife Nadine serves as an Associate Pastor, leading our Worship and Prayer Ministries. We have 2 married children (Ryan and Reanne) along with 4 adorable grandchildren.

All of my life I have been an avid Toronto Maple Leaf fan! I can clearly remember them defeating the Montreal Canadians and winning the Stanley Cup in 1967…on black and white TV. You are welcome to visit the Leaf Shrine in my office! When you come be sure to bring a Tim’s coffee – Medium Double Double!

Personal Calling/Mission Statement: “My life has been chosen and appointed by God to be His dwelling place, set apart for the purpose of glorifying, loving and serving Him. My desire is to bear lasting fruit by relationally connecting my family, my parish and my community to God’s unique destiny for them. My mission is to kindle a contagious passion for service and ministry by equipping, empowering and releasing competent spirit-filled leaders in order to advance the Kingdom of God in this generation.”

Life Verse: (John 15:16 NIV) You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit–fruit that will last–and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.

Often repeated quote: “It takes a lifetime to pastor one church”
